Chad Raines is a composer, sound designer, performer, and member of Snake In The Boot Collective. Most recently he composed and designed Thunderbodies at Soho Repertory Theater directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz. Other bold New York designs at venues such as La Mama, Jack, The Ontological, The Public Under the Radar Festival, The New Ohio among others has made him a much sought-after composer and designer for downtown and off-broadway theater. He is the resident sound designer for I AM A BOYS CHOIR as well as Fault Line Theater. Regionally he has won the Connecticut Critics Circle award for Best Sound Design for his work at Yale Repertory Theater Battle of Black and Dogs directed by Robert Woodruff, he was also nominated for The Fairytale Lives of Russian Girls directed by Rachel Chavkin at Yale Repertory Theater. Other works include Much Ado About Nothing at Oregon Shakespeare Festival directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz. As a performer he has recorded and toured with Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra as well as Cellular Chaos and his band, The Simple Pleasure. He has also designed student productions at Bard College, NYU, Barnard, LIU Post and the New School. He is a MFA Graduate of the Yale School of Drama with The Frieda Shaw, Dr. Diana Mason OBE, and Denise Sutter Prize for Sound Design.
